Objects made to be used, not kept for best
A small studio with a kiln and a long table
Kova began with a second-hand wheel and a kiln in a shared workshop. We wanted plates and mugs that felt good to hold every morning, and couldn't find them at a price that made sense.
Today a small team throws and glazes our ceramics, and we work with family workshops for glass and linen. We make in small batches, so we only make what we can do well.
Three things we won't compromise on
Materials that age well
Stoneware, mouth-blown glass and heavy linen: materials that get better with use and can be repaired or recycled.
Small batches
We make a few dozen of each piece at a time. It means fewer leftovers, and every piece is checked by the person who made it.
Honest prices
No inflated "was" prices and no countdown timers. When something is reduced, it's because a batch is ending.
Clay, glass and linen, and nothing we can't explain
Our clay is a speckled stoneware fired to 1,240 °C, which makes it strong enough for the dishwasher. Glazes are lead-free. Our linen is woven from flax and washed until soft, with no coatings.
